Welder

Scheller Metal Fabricators Ltd. is hiring a full-time Welder to join its team.

In this role, you will fabricate, assemble and weld structural metal products in accordance with work orders, verbal instructions and blueprints.

Responsibilities:

• Develop layout and plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of trigonometry, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and physical properties of metal.
• Set-up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
• Design and construct templates and fixtures.
• Assemble metal pieces and parts.
• Verify conformance of job to specifications using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
• Set up and operate machine tools associated with fabricating shops, such as radial drill press, end mill, and edge planer.
• Weld, layout and fit up carbon and alloy steel based on drawings.
• Ensure workmanship meets company quality standards.
• Follow safety policies and procedures as outlined in company Safety Manual.

Qualifications:

• Five years welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• MIG welding preferred.
• Ability to perform welding assignments with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials.
• Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set-up parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
• Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
• Knowledge of welding equipment.
• Ability to read construction drawings and welding instructions.
